Floating house fish breeding is the most popular fish farm in the Mekong Delta River.

People raise and breed fish underneath their house . Just imagined underneath of these house there is a big cage look like a bird cage made of steel frame or special wood which can beard water. Then a metal screens or net will put around these frame make it become a big cage. depend on what type of fish will be raise in side, the size of the screen will be choose so that the fish can not get out . The bottom of the house was nail onto the river bed by cables..

After the cage was made, the house is build on the top of the cage, so that the famer can live inside. Then around the house people put a lot of buoys so that the house can float on the water surface. During the water raise time the house was moved closer to the river bank to avoid strong currents. And during the water lower time, the house then moved away from the river bank to keep the water level hight enought inside the fish cage.

Each fish cage can have big or small size depend on people need. the size may run between 15-20 feet wide, 40-60 feet long and 10-14 feet deep. Sometimes, it can house up 30,000 fish inside. Fish are raise this way are no need of water chance or any kind of filter. And they growth fast as they were raise in their natural habitate. When people want to colect the fish, they will waite for the lower water time, then people will dive in the cage and using a big net to net the fish out. I was told that Asian arowana was also raised and breeded in this kind of farm. But as you know with the security reason farmer who raise these highly price fish will not let anyone come neer to their farm.
