The Child of Balance
By A.N. Wilmer
Ironically enough as "The boy who would be king;" Gaius himself started his journey as an 11-year old boy. But through an acceleration cloak, turned into a man of 16 overnight. Living as an orphan in the Magicka Arcanum of Gardjief, Gaius strived to prove himself in the adult world, as well as in the world of magic.

Traveling into the wilderness, he found a group of wayward heroes, including Mitanos, his former mentor and teacher. Through the course of his travels, Gaius would befriend the Great God of Excessive Appearances: Morgas Freenom, as well as those heroes he surrounded himself with.
However, over time, things would go horribly wrong.

Allying himself with a Pravus named Malum, and allowing his love for the young barmaid Claire Greentree to grow out of control, Gaius soon turned his powers toward evil. After razing several towns to the ground in what would become known as the Undead Uprising, and accepting the Dark Lords power of necromancy, Gaius soon found himself the Acolyte of a dark master. Before long, he was leading armies in battle, and striving towards his ultimate goal of becoming the Dark Lord himself.

Never quite learning the identity of his mother, Gaius followed her trail, through a series of historical records, paintings depcting a feathered masked woman, and the assistance of Ogden Tharimir. Gaius studied thse documents until the day of his eventual death.

Gaius fell in battle at the hands of his subordinate, then Neonate Mitanos, during a botched raid on the castle of Orin. Mitanos slew his master, disfiguring him, cutting his face, ears, eyes etc. Even Gaius' mystical armor was buried under a massive boulder, which he had won by defeating himself in the Arbiter's Temple.

Only his magical trident survived, and was given eventually to the woman believed to be his biological mother, Gloralynn. Some say his spirit resides within the trident still....
