| Clerical Magic does not differ all that much from normal magic - as the book writes it. I would like to try something different, as detailed below. However, as the document matures, more information will be added. Information such as which powers Clerics can call upon, special Cleric spells, and which spells are available to Clerics of various faiths. I will also be adding The Fifteen (The Gods) to this section of cyberspace. Thought I don't like it, I will be putting God information and religious information up. (It's only fair. How do you know you want to be a Cleric without seeing their abilities and faiths?) |

| POSSIBLE CLERICAL SYSTEMS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
So - What do we do with Clerics? Rather than impose a system on you, I thought it would be better if we all decide on what to do with Clerics. Here are a few options I've looked into. 1. Clerical Magic functions like normal magic. The only real difference is that Clerics can pray to get new spells, while mages must use the Time Use Sheets to learn new magic. The spells prayed for can be bought with Character Points. This comes directly out of the book. 2. An alternative I would like to do is give Clerics an alotment of power from their chosen Deity. When this power Pool of power is exhausted, the Cleric will have to pray for more energy to be granted from the Deity. The Cleric CANNOT pull off from his or her own Fatigue and HP - his/her powers are granted soully by the Divine and his/her connection to that entity. Here is the system I'm proposing to figure out the initial Pool of energy granted to a Cleric by his/her Deity. It works off from levels of Power Investiture - which is an advantage needed to cast Divine spells. Each level of Power Investiture costs 10 pts. Power Investiture 1 - IQ x1.5 = Pool Power Investiture 2 - IQ x2 = Pool Power Investiture 3 - IQ x2.5 = Pool Power Investiture 4 - IQ x3 = Pool (Very rare - Power Investiture 4 indicates you are an Avatar, or a Messiah, or something similar, very touched and close to a deity. Requires a 20 Pt Unusual Background advantage to get.) This system would indicate that a Clerics most useful Attribute would be IQ. I think this is fitting with someone who would go out wielding divine power; the high intelligence clerics will have also games their study in temples, churches, monastarys, prior to becoming a Cleric of their faith. How do you restore the Pool of energy once it is depleted? These are more questions I pose to you. I have a few suggestions. 1. Pray! Pray damn you! Prayer could restore this energy pool at a rate of one point per hour of unbroken prayer. It should drain fatigue after 5 hours of unfettered prayer at the rate of 1 per hour. (Feverish Prayer) 2. Find a holy site, and begin praying there. This could restore your energy pool at a rate of 3 per hour of unbroken prayer. 3. If the pool has been completely exhausted, perhaps this would require more of the Cleric. Why so long to restore Pool? Try running the formula above on varying IQ's and Power Investiture Levels. A Cleric with IQ: 15 and Power Investiture 3 has 37 Fatigue to use on his/her spells. During Prayer you are convincing the Deity to lend you more - and since Deity's are powered by the prayer of their followers, you are returning some of that used power to the deity. How do you increase your Pool of energy? I think it would be more difficult than buying a higher level of Power Investiture. (Although the points would be necessary.) It might require gaining a higher rank in the church. (Though not necessarily.) Perhaps, the Deity would send you on a quest - and upon fulfillment of the quest, grant you what you desire. --------------------------------------------- So, that is what I've come up with. You can either write me to let me know what you think, or click on the links below. (The site generates a number of visits for each page. I can see which pages have been visited with a tally count. I'll check on the tally count for either link within the coming weeks.) |

| YES, THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. I like the Pool idea and feel it should be implemented. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| NO! I HATE IT AND I HATE YOU. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO #!*@ WITH THE BOOK? LEAVE IT ALONE, JERK! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
