There was also the Celtic Tree of Life. I added a link (above picture) that explains it fully, but basically when a tribe back in the day cleared a spot of land they left one great tree at the center, the Crann-Bethadh. Under this tree their sacred rituals were held. It was believed that the roots of the mother tree reached down into the worlds below, the trunk was obviously in the human relm, and the branches touched the heavens, connecting those involved with the Ceremony with all three planes of existance at once. By the way, those of you who go to the above link just might recognize where I got my background, but hey, it's fitting isn't it?
I also managed to find the Celtic Creation Myth. Actually, I found a few of them. It's interesting because the all begin, 'Once upon a time, there was no time...'. Intriguing little phrase isn't it? For the full version of the celtic creation myth, please go to the above link.
My Tree, by the way, is the Hazel. It's associated with the rainbow, the Salmon, and Mercury. The Hazel is the 'emblem of concentrated wisdom', (you could gain wisdom by eating the nuts, and the salmon is a sacred symbol of wisdom. It was a capital crime to cut a Hazel down. It's also associated with the God Ogma and Manannann.
