It was Stephen King who set me out on the path I'm currently on, and have been on since I was nine years old; English.
My love of a good story moves beyond works of quill and ink (or word processor). One of my all time favorite movies is Dead Poets Society. Every time I watch it I'm reminded that our studies are not pointless as so many people try to say. "You aren't making anything useful, you can't use it except to teach it" etc.
Here's a quote from the movie explaining why our passion is important:
