Beasts

There is a myth; a legend
That humans once had two heads
And four feet
Happy creatures in an idle existence

Jealous gods, angry aliens
Spat upon our earth
They longed for power
With their mad science
They cut us in two

Expecting confusion
They calculated acceptance
So began the pursuit
For happiness and love

The unity and purpose
That they rejected
Is now our emptiness and want
Their hatred became our wars

There was no envy before
Neither fear nor insecurity
Jealous aliens, angry gods
Destroyers of paradise
