Here I Am Waiting
The phone rings, I pick it up
Expecting to hear your voice
Instead it's mama telling me
She's gonna be home a little late.
An hour later the doorbell rings
I hoped that when I opened it
You'd be there with a smile on your face
It was a saleswoman asking,
"Are you waiting here for someone special?"
I closed the door and began to cry
Here I am waiting while you're somewhere out there
My hopes were high, I thought that we could find
Something meant for only you and I
I check my email
Eager to see your address
Instead I have a message saying,
"Please sign up for a get away vacation"
I'm out in the car and the cell phone rings
I pick up thinking it's you calling just to say hi
Instead I hear my daddy saying
"Don't forget to be home by ten"
I hung up the phone and began to cry
Here I am waiting while you're somewhere out there
My hopes were I, I thought that we could find
Something mean for only you and I
