You can't change me

You can make a pirate cry,
And force a maiden into rage.
You could make a preacher lie,
And make a fool out of a sage.

The water ripples with delight,
And the skies spin with dark fixation.
Lost in the beauty of your venomous sight,
Like Helen of Troy's reincarnation.

The world covets you in its arms,
As you can turn winter into spring.
Making evil witches give good luck charms,
As you await what everyone else will bring.

But your thoughts are cruel & blunt,
In your ignorance you squint to see.
You can get men to do anything you want,
But you don't have that power over me.
