The Last Dance
Why Roswell High should have a Junior Prom
by DarkLady

If you've read my first editorial, then you know how I feel season 2 should go. If not, then I'll tell you: I feel it should be a reversal of season 1, meaning the first part of the season should be scifi centered with the last half being character-relations centered. A prom would make a perfect season ender with all of our fav couples back together and looking damn good in formal wear.

It's also a great way to promote songs, like they do at the end of the show every week anyway. Personally I'd love to see a slow dance to either "What a Good Boy" or "Call and Answer" by Barenaked Ladies. Angsty and passionate, they capture the mood of M&L and M&M perfectly. Or a live band would be good. Collective Soul or another highly-played-on-the-show group would be good.

I have this strange desire to see Tom Hanks guarding the punch bowl. How about all the real life moms stamping hands and taking coats? And hey, John Frakes can be the emcee, oh, wait, nevermind. Significant others can be fellow prom attendees.

Plus, no prom ever goes perfect, right? Howie can lead a group of bad aliens and crash the prom. Isabel can be voted prom queen, but it's all a joke and she gets a bucket of Tabasco sauce dumped on her, then goes psycho. The electricity can go out, but Max uses his power to make the disco ball spin.

Just as there are things I want to see, htere are things I really don't want to see. Please no sex subplot. Not everyone gets laid on prom night, okay? Well, that's really the only thing I don't want to see.

I confess, the main reason I want a "Roswell" prom: Brendan in a tux!
