Never In Roswell

Through your efforts, "Roswell" has been renewed. Make no mistake, it was the power of the fans and the Internet that brought back this excellent program. But just like on "Roswell", the fight is only beginning. Now you must do what you can to get new viewers and make sure the online "Roswell" community thrives.

For some of you, this is your first experience with genre fandom. Many of you have already found out how rewarding it is. New friendships have been made in cyberspace and in real life. You've gotten to meet the actors you admire at parties and other gatherings. The lines of communication between fans and "offical" people have rarely been this open. Best of all, you've shown you have heart through campaigns like RIHHIN.

Now image it all being taken away.

Not through cancellation, but through the network that finances "Roswell": Twentieth Century Fox. Although "Roswell" airs on the WB, it is a FOX program, just like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel". This is a common practice in television. For example, "Friends" is a WB-backed program that airs on NBC. This is why you find "Friends" merchandise in a Warner Brothers Studio Store, but not "Buffy" or "Roswell".

FOX has a history of waiting for a program to become successful, then attacking the websites that help make it successful. Perhaps some of you have heard of the forced shutdowns or alterations of sites devoted to "BtVS", "The X Files" or "The Simpsons", or you might have heard about Operation: Blackout, a voluntary shutdown of sites to protest FOX's actions. Make no mistake, if "Roswell" continues to thrive, it's fan sites will become a target.

Unless you take action now.

Fanstock 2000 is a gathering of fans from all corners of genre fandom to protest the actions of FOX. Not only are we coming into the light to voice our anger, we are looking for solutions to offer any studio or other entertainment corporation that might want to talk to us. A strong showing of "Roswell" fans will help the cause. Everybody knows "Roswell is Hot", now tell FOX "Never in Roswell" will there be site shutdowns. "Never in Roswell" will fans be bullied. "Never in Roswell" will the artists we admire be forced into keeping silent.

"Never in Roswell".
