REDBY

Redby is located on the south shores of lower Red Lake. The Red Lake Railway carried logs from Nebish and other points to Redby, best known for the sawmill that still operates today. The Railway was sold in 1905 and became the Minnesota, Red Lake, and Manitoba Railway adding a passenger car, and extended the rails south to Bemidji. Another claim to fame for Redby is that it is the home of the Red Lake Fisheries. At one time Red Lake was the number one world supplier of walleye through a commercial fishing industry. The elected representatives of Redby on the Red Lake Tribal Council are Allan Pemberton and Julius Thunder. The community is served by the Red Lake ALC program at New Beginnings in Room 100.  The phone number is (218) 679-3350 extension 120.
