Sir Daniel and the Dragon (cont...)
By Daniel
George? Is that you? a voice from the streets questioned.

  Who goes there? George called.

  Come untie us! Bob wailed.

  Shut up Bob! George scolded.

George, Bob, its me, Sir Daniel, the voice replied.

Hes alive! Hes alive! Bob rejoiced. Lanterns lit up all over the village to see if what was heard was true. Sir Daniel told his story to the town, aside from the lightning part, and the town celebrated in the bar all through the night.

The next morning the town gathered in the wrecked square to give Sir Daniel an honorary town hero award form the town. We hereby give this honorary town hero award to Sir Daniel the knight for much thoughtfulness, smarts, and courage in the line of fire, a villager who was nominated official spokesperson said.

Actually, the dragon could not breathe fire, Sir Daniel said casually, laughing good-heartedly. The crowd got quiet suddenly. Umyou see, it was supposed to be funny. Courage in the line of fire, but the dragon couldnt breathe fire. Haha. Anybody? A lone cricket was heard somewhere off the podium.

What do you mean the dragon couldnt breathe fire? the spokesperson questioned.

After a few seconds of silence, George ran up on the podium saying, The point is, Sir Daniel saved us all from being eaten up by the dragon. Thank you Sir Daniel! The people of Legodas clapped generously.

Thank you, people of Legodas, Sid Daniel started. I am honored to be your town hero. I hope that Legodas can thrive once more. (applause) However, I am afraid I can stay with you no longer. I regret to say that my being here is an odd twist of fate. I came here on a journey looking for an evil enchantress. I should say that I must continue on with my journey in order to avenge my father and restore thankfulness and gratitude to my home town. Thank you for treating me with kindness as a guessknightand even friend. Thank you, Sir Daniel concluded. (more enthusiastic applause)

The town gathered at its eastern gates to bid the brave knight farewell. Sir Daniel retrieved his horse that he had stowed away while the dragon was about. George and Bob hugged each other, weeping.

Although I may be gone, Ill always remember everyone in this town in my heart. Those were the final words the people in Legodas ever heard Sir Daniel say.
