Groove Collective
Joining jazz and hip-hop, Groove Collective has been producing some of the craziest music around. And not only are they crazy, but they're funky as hell. One of the true poineers of acid jazz, they began in 1990 with rapper Nappy G, flutist Richard Worth, and DJ Smash.I know it's sounds crazy to hear a rapper and DJ in th same group as a flutist, but that's what makes Groove Collective so great. The sophistication of the group is amazing. Eventually, the band grew to 11 members, with a keyboardist, trumpteer, vibist, trombonist, drummer, bassist, and percussionist. Since then, they've released 5 LP's, each one with a unique sound. Check out their sound, because even if you don't like it, you'll still be intruiged by the funkyness of it all.
