* Play Information *
This is an LJ (long johns) level. No weapons to start. Everybody starts
in an arena where you can box. Mary rules here. When that gets old, go
out and find any of the numerous weapons and have a go. I like low
light. This should look like sundown. James and his camo will have an
advantage outside, but the cramped interiors look good for Mary and
Doc players. CTF should be fun. Of course everyone will start at
their flag. All weapons and flags are in or near buildings, so it
shouldn't present a problem to arm. I dropped KFC: way too many
places to hide. Tag has been added for those who play it. I never have.
The original had terrible FPS. Numerous people told me I
should make it less complicated to increase them. I like a challenge.
If anything, the new version is more complicated and hopefully
it is visually stunning. I used Sanctuary as a yardstick. I get a low
of 62 FPS in Sanc on my system. There are few places in Boxer v2
that I get below 70, and then only barely.
This has been an FPS learning experience for me. Lanterns
and hanglamps decrease FPS. They would not if they were unbreakable,
or at least did not result in the fires. Apparently, it affects the
entire game, not just the areas where they are viewed. I used some
sector identifier tricks in the object editor to fool the system into
making them very difficult to break. This should help. In those areas
where this was impossible, I simply did not put up any lights. Some
areas are lit anyway. Use your imagination. I just darkened the
porches.
The barrel at the rear of the professional building is a bit
of an innovation. It can be stood upon and used as a method of
accessing the roof. All I did was put a lid on it. I used the table
method, but instead of legs, I just rammed a barrel under there. I
was tired of the old crate trick, which I still used in the rear of
the commercial building.
The saloon is my masterpiece. Juggling the complexity to
get the FPS that it has was a nightmare. Have some fun. I put sector
velocity on the bannister. It makes for a good slide. Try it while
looking down, forward and backward.
I have never used secret areas. I do like to hide things
though. There are two gat rooms with some other goodies as well.
