Fiesta 1300 Ghia - TVF 944W
TVF 944W is a Ghia model from the Fiesta Mk1 range introduced into Britain in 1977. This car has a 1300cc 4 cylinder crossflow engine (Kent) producing 66 bhp. The model is mechanically identical to the Fiesta 1300 Sport and Supersport models of the era giving it a top speed of around 95 mph, reaching 60 mph in around 12 seconds.
I bought TVF 944W for 150 + 10 delivery in June 2004 after seeeing it advertised in the local free ads paper as an ex show car. I now recall seeing it on the Fiesta Club GB stand at Ford Fair 2001.
The car was registered in June 1981 at the Ford dealer R.C Edmondson which was based just a mile from my home, but while the car still exists the dealership was taken over a few years ago and moved to the outskirts of town.
TVF is painted terracotta, a colour only used between 1979 and 1981.They even did the Escort RS2000 in it!! TVF is almost original. The towbar is an unwelcome extra and the spotlights are a set of Halfords cheapies. The chrome waist trim is not original as a black one with a chrome effect insert should be there.
The car came without an MOT but with only a rear wheel cylinder needed it passed. I also replaced the front brake pads and discs as they were very worn and the calipers were sticking.
The RS 7 spoke alloy wheels with 185/60 tyres were fitted to replace the ugly 12" Ghia alloys. The 12" tyres were worn out anyway.
I decided to sell the car in the end so it was auctioned on Ebay and went to it's new owner in Berkshire at the end of September 2004.
