Devotionals Reading: John 12:12 - 18 Today is Palm Sunday, the day when we
remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, and mark the beginning of Holy Week,
when we follow our Lord through his Passion. When I read John's gospel account of this, I
always think to myself that *THIS MESSIAH* entering Jerusalem on *THIS MOUNT* - a
humble colt - was not at all what the mass population of Jews had in mind. Their messiah
was going to appear as a brilliant hero, a dazzling conqueror, a King unlike any other.
There were only a handful of faithful waiting, crying HOSANNA! So, Jesus did not get his
tickertape parade down the main street of Jerusalem, but what did happen was far more
significant. For unlike any hero, before or since, Jesus' actions were far more
vital, essential and encompassing! No other hero, conqueror or king laid down their lives
in such a brutal way as Jesus did, and none for the same reason! |
