There comes a point in every young persons life where he or she wakes up one morning and states, I hate the world. Lets dress like freaks. Unfortunately, for these four people, they never had this day, but felt like dressing up like Goths anyway.
(Actually, Klaire wanted to buy purple hair dye, but when she bought red earlier no one took her seriously, and she felt dressing in black would help. Of course, she had to have  accomplices.)
So the four took the hour drive to a mall where there was a store that sold purple hair dye. Jess, the oldest, and who should have been the most mature, drove.
Melissa pretended to drive.
And Evan was the token male in this story.
While in the mall, the group had to be devious with their picture taking because of a previous dress up and go shopping trip, they knew that taking pictures was frowned upon.
Part of the trip was to see peoples reactions, which were interesting. The first comment heard was some old lady concerning Klaires fading red hair matched with her red fishnet stockings. There were, obviously, other stares and comments as the day went on, especially when the group went through normal clothing stores. But when Klaire went to buy her Purple Passion hair dye, the people in store greeted them with open arms and accepted them for who they were (dressed up as.)
(And now a word from our sponsor)
After shopping, eating, and just generally being goofy, the four Goths headed home.
This was after they tried to use up the rest of the film in the parking lot. When that failed, they took pictures in the car.
Fortunately, they had enough pictures remaining to get this lovely landscape of a cat eating road kill. Also, the photo of Evan standing next to the Slow Children at Play sign with some toy is a classic.
The whole day was, if not memorable, disturbing. Evidently, they never really learned from their experience, because it is probable that they will end up shopping as freaks some other time in their lives.
