On Home! NZ Nash Hash 2003, Mount Mauganui
In support of Waipuna Hospice
The Red Dress Run held in conjunction with NZ Nash Hash 2003 has been rated a great success.

By all reports all participating runners enjoyed themselves and the Tauranga public didn't have too many complaints.

Our nominated charity for the event, The Waipuna Hospice (which is a terminal illness care facility), were very pleased to accept a cheque for $2750.00 which was handed over by Mount Hash members during the regular Monday run held on 17th February.  The run was set from a nearby riverbank, and for the first 2km of the run, (to the Hospice and back) red dresses were obligatory.  For those who played the game, free beers followed at the On On.

The $2750 cheque was made up as follows:

  • 110 registrations at $20, less direct expenses (mainly the buses into town from the Nash Hash venue),
  • plus the proceeds of the Gold Coin street collection which raised $1129.55 in legal tender,
  • together with a number of sundry items including US$1, AUD$5, Euro $0.40 (20c from each of Holland and Belgium) NZ$0.02 (a no-longer legal tender coin), 5 somethings from somewhere (maybe Malaysia), one lion red (beer) bottle cap, 2 peppermints,
  • and 3 business cards from an ex-hasher (who also put real money in the collection plate).

We also thank "Rarebit", another semi retired hasher, who generously supplied the Red Dress 003 commemorative patch at no cost to the event.

Mount Maunganui HHH look forward to a future opportunity to organise another Red Dress Charity Run.
