RE: 503, WA5, Wiget

The purpose of EVOC 503 WA5 was to prepare a Letter of Recommendation for myself as if I were the person asked to write the letter. The following six criteria were specified:

1.     Comply with all of the General Criteria for Written Assignments.

2.     Provide the real name and title of a person whom you might ask for a letter of recommendation from.

The person I selected was Guy Simms CADC-II my supervisor from Aurora Behavioral Heath Care in Covina,CA.

3.     Write the letter of recommendation as if you are the person indicated in #2 above.

4.     Limit the letter to not more than ONE PAGE in a standard business format. Do NOT refer to anyone in the letter by only their first name.

5.     Include explicit information about who you (the letter writer) are and the circumstances under which you know the person (yourself) for whom the letter is being written.

6.     Include specific information about the best qualities (only) of the person for whom the letter is being written.

The following sources of information were used relative to this assignment:

1.     Wiget, David - From my own professional experience.

2.     Simms, Guy – CADC-II Aurora Behavioral Heath Care

I believe that the attached proposal meets all six of above listed criteria and respectfully request full credit: one point for meeting each of the above listed criteria.

Re: Letter of Recommendation for David Wiget

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is written to attest to the abilities Mr.Wiget has demonstrated in the therapeutic/learning environment at Aurora Charter Oak Hospital. As a teacher/counselor on the adolescent and adult unit, I have had the opportunity to evaluate Mr.Wiget’s interactions with the students, as well as co-workers, and families of these students.

Throughout the last five years I have known Mr.Wiget, he has worked with an array of students. He has worked with students ranging from Paranoid Schizophrenics, Dual Diagnosed, to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has worked with individuals, encouraging them to stay active in their education and treatment, and assessing their needs, and introducing positive coping skills to them. Mr.Wiget is motivated and willing to take on challenges.

Mr.Wiget has always maintained a positive image of his self and encourages this growth in the students, as well as staff he interacts with. He has extensive experience on the in his subject matter. He copes well with complex issues regarding the students and knows when to consult with co-workers regarding issues outside his duties.

Mr.Wiget has been expected to facilitate group meetings with the students, developed individual education plans for chemically dependent students, and is self motivated to take on responsibilities aside from what is expected from him. He utilizes his skills in our unpredictable hospital environment, and consistently shows support to his co-workers.

Mr.Wiget is a hard worker that would be an asset to any program or higher learning instistution. I highly recommend Mr.Wiget to any organization that is looking for an excellent employee. If you have any questions or need more information please feel free to contact me at (626) 966-1632 ext. 2006.

Sincerely,

David A. Wiget CADC-II
