RE: 502, WA5, Wiget
The purpose of EVOC 502 WA5 was to prepare
a proposal for a public relations event in support of the course I teach in
Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery. The following six criteria were
specified:
1. Comply with all of the General Criteria
for Written Assignments.
2. Develop a plan a particular EVENT or
ACTIVITY that will promote good public relations for a particular existing
course or program and indicate why that event or activity is likely to have
good public relations value.
3. Format the plan as a proposal and address
the proposal to a school administrator who would be in a position to approve
and support it. Indicate why the event will be beneficial to the school.
4. Provide an estimate of how much money the
event will cost and related information about what type of support will be
required (facilities, materials, staff time, etc.).
5. Include a timeline that specifies
information about WHAT needs to be done, WHEN it needs to be done and WHO will
do it.
6. List and briefly describe at least one
good resource from which further information about planning public relations
events can be obtained.
The following sources of information were
used relative to this assignment:
1. Wiget, David - From my own professional
experience.
I believe that
the attached proposal meets all six of above listed criteria and respectfully
request full credit: one point for meeting each of the above listed criteria.

RE: Event Proposal for Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery
EVENT DESCRIPTION
The students in the Substance Abuse
Treatment and Recovery course would like
to present a half day of testimonies of their recovery and the improvements
they have made in addition to the contributions made to the community at the
Ontario Convention Center on Wednesday June 2, 2006. This will be an excellent
opportunity for people in the local community to see actual proof that recovery
does happen, crime is reduced, and on going support is needed.
SUPPORT REQUIRED
A bus will be needed to transport the
students to and from the parole office to the convention center (total cost of
$100). Two faculty members will need to be in attendance ($28/hr each for 4
hours minimum, as per union contract, for a total cost of $224).
