| The photo below was taken in the Shasta County Public Health Department on April 19, 2002. These signs are found throughout the building and clearly advocate support for Redding's fluoridation. According to Shasta County Counsel, Karen Jahr, Public officials and entities can not advocate fluoride since it is a ballot issue. (Please read article by Tim Hearndon of the Record Searchlight). The signs are therefore illegal, but the County continues to display them even though we've asked that they be removed. We have asked the Shasta County Board oaf Supervisors why the County is getting away with this and who is responsible for making the Public Health Department comply with the law? There's been no answer. Please call the Shasta county Board of Supervisors to voice your disapproval. Ask them to cease all activities that promote fluoridation and comply with the law. The number to call is: 225-5550. **Followup: The Citizens for Safe Drinking Water were successful in having these signs removed. According to Karen Jahr, the signs were removed April 28, 2002. Our next step is to stop all County funding of advocacy of fluoridation. If you have received any information from the County supporting fluoridation please contact us! (223-4849) |
