Cartridge Pouches
Our cartridge pouches are made of black leather. They are suspended by buff leather slings with three brass buckles. Inside, the wooden block has drilled holes for each individual cartridge. The pouch shown below has twenty. Pouches of this period were normally not rigidly constructed, as in later pouches. Period artwork shows that they almost always had large flaps.
