Southbound Intermodal Q-194 detours on the Grenada to allow
for new rail to be laid on the Yazoo Sub. in June of 2001 near
Oakland Mississippi.
For 2 weeks during June of 2001 intermodals Q-194 and Q-193 were rerouted
back over to the Grenada District to allow for more track time for the MOW
workers to install new rail on the Yazoo Sub.  I chose a day in early June and
followed Q-194 down to Winona MS. where it met Q-193. I then followed Q-193
back towards Memphis. Most of the pics are posted on this page and page 5 of
the Grenada District photos. Enjoy!!
Q-194 glides slowly through the curve just north of Batesville MS. as the rest of his train tiptoes over the Tallahatchie River bridge.
Just south of Oakland Miss. Q-194 meets L-577 (Grenada-Memphis local) at the siding there.
Between Oakland and Tillatoba Miss. the line
glides through an "S" curve and then ducks under Hwy
51. This is where this shot
was taken.
Q-194 blasts past the station
at Grenada Mississippi.
Caught Q-194 one more time near Duck Hill Mississippi.
Q-194 and Q-193 meet at Winona Mississippi. Got
the head ends meeting on video but not with the still camera. Oh well, even at 45mph these trains are hard
to stay in front of.
Q-193 behind IC 6063 prepares to head towards Memphis at Winona Mississppi in June of 2001.
IC 6063 flys accross an
old trestle near Duck Hill Mississippi in June of 2001.
