Glock 17 (Red Wolf Airsoft)
Introduction:
First off, the Glock I am reviewing is
completely stock (no upgrades). Now, when I got the gun I was very excited,
my fellow teammates can tell you first hand, not only because I was getting
a new gun but that there were two other guns in the box along with the
Glock. A Tactical Master and a Beretta M9. Anyway,
I opened the box and saw a bright orange outer barrel, not painted, but
it was a plastic orange barrel, a little worried that I couldn't remove
the color I looked a little more through the shipment box, then I found
that DEN had packed the black outer barrel in the box, thank you! :) Installation
of the replacement barrel is very easy and a manual is included but not
needed... The gun itself, without magazine, is quite light due to it being
basically made entirely of plastic, when the magazine is inserted into
the gun it becomes a bit heavy but not by much, for added realism and durability
get a metal slide and outer barrel - (65 at DEN.)
Durability:
Well after playing a couple games, indoors
only so far, the Glock 17 came through without incident. The stock gun
will last a few weeks, in my case. But if you don't shoot it as much, in
games or not, like myself I think it will last a couple months at most.
But sooner or later you will have to buy replacements as wells as reinforced
parts.
Problems:
Basically there were no problems with
the "stock glock" that I have run into. Basically all that I ran into were
the parts in the gun breaking... 2 parts so far have broken and I have
replaced one, I plan on fixing the other soon. These parts were the Part
10 (which breaks on everyone's sooner or later) and the recoil spring rod.
I purchased the new steel reinforced part 10 from DEN and it works great.
Although the price is a little high (25) and I am planning on buying the
ICHI made spring rod guild. The plastic ones of these parts cracked due
to excessive use. (by me) These are easy to replace and you should not
have any trouble installing these. All in all I have not no major problems
with the gun. Once I replace all the breakable plastic parts in the Glock,
very few, it will be a very solid gun.
Conclusion:
The Glock 17 is a great gun, but I plan
on buying the Glock 18c since it seems everyone has one and is enjoying
it. But for reliability I think the Glock 17 rules. If you want a great
back-up gun and don't really care about full auto capability go with the
glock 17!
