Benelli M3 Super 90 - Uncut, long eh?
My Benelli came to me its original length, however seeing as i am not a very tall person i decide to cut down the barrel to about 2 - 2 1/2 inches past the pump arm, now i feel very confident using it, especially in CQB situations. However before i cut the barrel i used the full size benelli for about a month or so, this review will consist of performance before and after the cut.
This is a very long shotgun and it is easy to cock, not as easy as maybe a M870 but not hard to do so. Inside the outer barrel is 3 long brass barrels like you would see in AEGs, using this system the benelli is very accurate. The shell loading system consists of a 30 round shell, each time the gun is cocked 3 BBs are loaded into the firing mech. So you have 10 shots in all before you have to change out shells. The pistol grip is a nice grip in which to hold on to and by pushing it forward and pulling back on the pump arm the action is made much easier and faster. There is also a feature that lets you hold down the trigger and cock the pump arm and this will allow you to shoot without pulling the trigger after each pump of the arm. This is known as "auto-trigger" well at least in the paintball world.
If you were to buy this shotgun i suggest buying extra shells for it, i myself have bought 6 more shells, the gun comes with one shell already and i also bought a shell holder that fits onto the stock of the gun, it not only adds to the look of the shotgun but it also adds a tactical advantage over someone with say their shells in their pockets.
Stock FPS (feet per second) was around 260, not bad at all. That's about stock AEGs FPS and that is good enough for me, now i don't know if cutting the barrel effected this but the FPS had dropped to around 250 or so FPS. Seeing as i took off maybe around 5 inches of the outer barrel so it actually may have done something to the FPS because the longer barrel is not there to increase travel time and FPS. The sights are actually very good and fairly accurate, the Front sight is not adjustable while i think the rear sight is, there is not an up and down adjustment, only side to side.
I have gotten many kills with the Benelli especially in the CQB area, and to some people they view the Benelli as a Sniper Rifle and i must say that is not far off, although power upgrades are not really an option seeing as the internals are mostly plastic. But after all this is a shotgun. Mounting a sling on to the benelli is easy you can have it on either the left or right side of the gun, there are two rear sling attachments on the stock and the front sling mount can be repositioned from left, right, or the middle. To do this you must first unscrew the end cap and slide it up the choke tube followed by the sling mount, reposition as desired.
The choke tube can hold 2 spare shells and it is spring loaded, the tube does not feed anything into the gun it simply is for looks, Marui decided to do something with this so you can store spare shells if you like, but seeing as the gun is so long, in its stock form, it is somewhat impractical to me, now mine doesn't have this because i cut it off :) Another neat feature is that when you cock the gun and that is your last shot for that shell you can leave it cocked, change out the shell, and have a fresh shell in there, with that one shot to defend yourself if needed while reloading.
Loading is done by a "trap door" system located under the guns receiver, you pop open the door replace or put in a shell and close it again, its simple although sometimes the shell doesn't want to come out right away just keep pushing the lever that is used to pop open the door and the shell comes out somewhat for you to grab and take out.
After the cut the Benelli for me became much more manageable and easier to use, while it is still longer than a full stock AK its not a long 4ft stick anymore :)
Overall this is an excellent airsoft shotgun and i fully recommend this to anyone that is thinking about buying it. If your a tall person it may not bother you to leave it the way it is, or you don't do much CQB leave it as is. For the shorter or more CQB type people i think it would be better for it to be cut.

How To Cut It
- (READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE YOU STARTT CUTTING.)
First you might want to take off the front sight,
this is done by taking off the bottom cap from the feed tube, above this
tube is the actual barrel, under where the front sight is there is a small
hole that you can slide a screw driver into. From there you just unscrew
the front sight and take it out. Warning:
I suggest you hold the gun up with the barrel pointing down so that the
little screw that holds the front sight in place does not fall into one
of the three inner barrels, it happened to me and i had a hell of a time
getting it back out, it got jammed in there.
Then determine how long you want the barrel to be, make a mark with a pencil
or anything else that you can see easily, take some masking tape and wrap
it around the barrel matching the end of the tape with the mark you had
made. Make sure that the tape is nice and tight around the barrel and it
is somewhat straight around the barrel so that you get a nice flat edge
when you are finished cutting. I used a Hack Saw to cut the barrel, to
hold the barrel i used a vice grip. It really is simple. After the initial
cut you will have a somewhat ruff edge so you have to get a file and file
down all the ruff areas, get a smaller file that will be able to fit into
the barrel and shave off ruff edges in the barrel.
Keep in mind the inner barrels are a good ways down in the barrel so i wouldn't worry about accidentally cutting the inner barrels, the barrels end about 2 1/2 inches from the end of the pump arm (the end of the pump arm to me it the side where the sling mount is). After your all finished and you want your front sight back you can, as i did, super glue it on but this may make you feel a little uncomfortable because it can fall off, mine hasn't yet. There are other ways of course - experiment!
Suggestion(s): I used toilet paper to stuff the inside of the barrel so that it maybe could help to keep out metal shavings that came off when i was doing the cut, for the most part it worked. Probably should have done this with the front sight screw too.. but oh well. - You may also want to cut the barrel an inch or two farther up from where you wanted originally (this is if you are going to make it super short like i did, i wish i had done this because then i could add a flashlight to the end of the feed tube. I could still put it onto the end cap for the sling attachment, well actually the end caps, threads, i think attaching it right on to the end cap would be difficult because it is too wide.
