Airsoft?
Airsoft, the basic origin of airsoft is from
Japan. In airsoft you play with toy guns... but these "toys" are 1:1 scale
replicas of real steel firearms. These replicas shoot plastic 6mm plastic
bbs at various velocities. There are many weapons to choose from and many
places that carry them. Basic rule of airsoft is, if you are hit anywhere
on your body, cloths, arms, legs, packs, etc. you are considered out. There
maybe variations to this rule but that is the basic rule of thumb. Airsoft
is based on the Honor System, and requires all player involved to have
an understanding of the game rules and abide by them accordingly.
Airsoft guns can be made to look and feel
much like their real steel brothers. There are many add-ons on the airsoft
market that allow a player install a full metal body, as well as other
parts on their gun to make it "real". Many other accessories are available
as well, sights, scopes, lighting accessories, hi-capacity magazines, and
much, much more, as time passes more and more innovations in airsoft will
begin to emerge, this sport is only getting started, it still has a lot
more surprises for airsoft newbies and the hardened veterans alike!!
There are 3 types
of airsoft guns:
Spring guns / Electric
Blow Back (EBB) -
you have to cock the gun for each shot,
power is decent... EBBs are a rather new addition
to the airsoft gun line-up these are spring guns that are powered by 4
AA batteries and provides limited blow back feeling, these are rather weak
in power (FPS) and are more for the beginner. There are also Bolt Action
Spring Rifles that have pretty decent stock velocities, each time you pull
the bolt back it cocks a spring then you can fire, stock FPS... 270 (?)
there are also spring shotguns that pack quite a punch.
Gas Blow Back (GBB)
/ Non-Blow Back (NBB) -
There use gas for a power source and have
good stock power, sometimes more than that of a stock AEG, the only downside
to them would be the Green Gas they use, @ $20 a can...
Automatic Electric
Guns (AEG) -
AEGs are by far
the most popular of the three types, these guns use battery power and are
capable of shooting in modes that include semiautomatic, burst (usually
3-shot), and full automatic. The most commonly seen is Semi and Full
auto.
The best, and simplest, way to describe
airsoft is to compare it. It is much like another sport, called paintball.
But without the mess. But without the mess comes the Honor System. If you
play fair and don't cheat then you will be looked upon as a trust worthy
player and accepted into the airsoft community without any trouble. If
you don't play by the rules I myself feel that you have no place in airsoft,
but hey people can change...
