See how happy he is? That´s right, Jesse! You are once again in some sort of spotlight! It is hard to believe that this man, five years after his retirement from the U. S. Senate, still manages to piss me off.

Jesse was born in 1921 in Monroe, North Carolina. While we wish that Jesse´s mother had been a firm believer in abortion, thus sparing the world of her jackass son, she spawned him anyway. Jesse studied at Wingate Junior College before proceeding to Wake Forest University. He served in the navy during World War II, probably the only worthwhile thing in which this motherfucker ever took part. His entry into politics would color (pun intended) the rest of his career: he was the campaign advisor to one of the most virulently racist politicians ever to exist, Willis Smith.
Ohh, he liked that remark! You see, while his farewell tributes labeled him a "stalwart conservative" and "an unyielding conservative", Jesse´s true political beliefs were simpler than that. Keep the black man in his place, and make rich people richer. There is a reason he was often linked in the press with such men as Strom Thurmond; however, Jesse is even worse.
Jesse, unlike Thurmond, never recanted his segregationist and racist remarks. He never accepted change. Even George Wallace did this, well before his death. He continually alluded to racial issues in his campaigns. In one of his crowning moments, his campaign ad against the former Mayor of Charlotte, NC, he showed a pair of white hands crumpling a rejection notice. "You needed that job and you were the best qualified," read a heavy announcer´s voice, "but we had to give it to a minority because of a racial quota."

Recently, although he is now "retired," Jesse sent out a fundraising letter for his foundation, the Jesse Helms Center; in which he felt the need to push for a new fear campaign about another retired politico, a name which should now be allowed to retire with dignity after the decade of mudslinging against it, former President Bill Clinton. Helms, in the letter, wanted to smear Clinton´s name further, mentioning his name as a possibility for the new Secretary General of the United Nations. He included a letter for his supporters to sign and send to President Bush, asking him to please block this hideous possibility.
While Clinton has never mentioned this "plan," Helms cannot let his name fall from conservative ire. He used Clinton to ensure the foolish, gullible conservatives who formed his base support to make sure that the Helms Center would receive more donations to embezzle. Yes, I said embezzle. The Helms Center uses seventy-plus percent of its donations to cover "overhead", a rather high percentage for a "nonprofit" organization. Consumer watchdog groups recommend that no group spending more than forty percent on "overhead" or "operations" receive money in donations.
Helms is a despicable man using foul means to further his pathetic agenda. He recently added to his center a UN Monitoring project, whose goal is to keep America from participating in meaningful world diplomacy. While this could be a part of his pitiful anti-Clinton campaign, it could also be his silly old ass not minding his own business. Jesse, go the fuck away.
