Finally meeting John Howe� and having my eyes shut! D'oh!After it looked like they had reached their decision I went and introduced myself to John. I told him that it was so wonderful to finally meet him since he has been one of my biggest artist inspirations for years. He just humbly looked at his shoes and quietly said "Well, thankyou� that's very kind."
I asked him if he'd sign my 'Art of the Fellowship of the Ring' book, to which he kindly obliged. When I told him my name he recognised me as the artist of the pictures he'd just been looking at! It was a real 'Oh my goodness! My hero remember my name!' moment!
I met him again later in the day after his question and answer session with Mr. Lee and we had a wonderfully long chat about arty things! Then he took my book again and drew Gandalf in it for me!
He told me then, that I'd won first prize in the artwork competition.
"I'm not sure if I was supposed to tell you yet, but try to look surprised!"
