Mrs. Ludwig Klain, 73, Turtle
Lake, Dies Saturday Here; Funeral Wednesday
Mrs. Ludwig Klain, 73
Turtle Lake, mother of Mrs. John Jahner, 413 S. Thirteenth St., died at
10:55 p.m., Saturday at 223 First St., here. Funeral services will be
held Wednesday afternoon in the German Baptist church at Turtle Lake, of
which Mrs. Klain was a member. Officiating will be Rev. August Rossner
of Turtle Lake and Rev. Karl Gieser of Bismarck. Mrs. Klain was born in
Russia on July 28, 1867. Besides her husband, Mrs. Klain leaves nine
children, Mrs. Jahner, Mrs. Fred Presser, Mrs. Gottlieb Mehrer, Mrs. Guy
Sellon, Ferdinand and Fred Klain, all of Turtle Lake, and Mrs. David
Green of Towner, N.D., Mrs. John Welsenberger of Monroe, Wash., and Emil
Klain of Portland, Ore. She leaves 43 grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, three brothers, Fred Bonnet [Bohnet] of Max and Henry and
John Bonnet [Bohnet] of California, and three sisters, Mrs. Rosa Putz of
Martin, N.D., Mrs. Christ Blumhagen of Anamoose, N.D., and Mrs. J.
Selmer of Regan. Pall bearers will be A. Mehrer, J. Kiemele, A.
Rittenback, Philip Wacker, J. Schelsky and J. Schlichenmayer, all of
Turtle Lake. The body is at the Covert funeral home.

LUDWIG K. KLAIN DIES AT BISMARCK Karl Ludwig
Klain, 76, Turtle Lake who had resided at the Bismarck Old Peoples' home
since Oct. 7, died in a Bismarck hospital at 12:45 P.M. Tuesday. He
entered the hospital March 7 and died March 18th. His wife died last
fall, shortly after going to Bismarck. He was born in Germany on Oct.
16, 1864, and moved with his parents as a boy to Rumania. He was married
in Rumania on Dec. 2, 1887 to Jacobina Bonhat [Bohnet]. The couple came
to the United States in October 1907, settling on a farm 10 miles
northwest of Turtle Lake. They retired in 1935, moving into a home they
built in Turtle Lake. He was a member of the Turtle Lake Baptist church.
he leaves nine children. The sons are Ferdinand and Fred of Turtle Lake
and Emil of Portland, Ore. The daughters are Mrs. John Johner of
Bismarck. Mrs. Fred Presser, Mrs. Gottlieb Meher and Mrs. Guy Sellon,
all of Turtle Lake. Mrs. Dave Green of Towner, N.D., and Mrs. John
Weisenberger. Rev. August Rosner of Turtle Lake and Rev. Karl Gieser of
Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, will officiate at funeral services to
be held in the Turtle Lake Memorial Hall on Saturday afternoon at two
o'clock. Burial will be made in the family lot in the Turtle Lake
cemetery beside the body of his wife.

A memorial obituary reads as follows. Monroe --
Gottlib Mehrer, 71, Rt. 2, Monroe, Wash., died late Wednesday, Feb. 20,
1963 in a Monroe hospital following a brief illness. Services were held
at the Startup Baptist Church, Startup, Wash., at 1:00 p.m. with the
Rev. Herbert Schauer officiating. Burial was in Sultan Cemetery under
directions of Purdy && Kerr Chapel in Monroe. Gottlib Mehrer was
born Aug. 25, 1891 in Romania, and came to the United States 56 years
ago. He resided in Monroe for 16 years. He married Mary Ann Klain. Nov.
29, 1914 at Turtle Lake, N. Dak. They farmed in the Turtle Lake area
until 1946 when they moved to Washington. He is survived by his wife,
eight daughters, Emma McGuire, Seattle; Edna Erdmann, Monroe; Ann Jolly,
Long Island, New York; Martha Tweeten, Washburn, N. Dak.; Lillian Bair,
Lexington, Indiana; Helen Hintz, Portland, Ore.; Ellenora Jonker,
Sultan; Violet Lentz, Everett; one son, Leon Mehrer, Sawyer, N. Dak.;
two brothers, Jacob and Andrew, Bismarck, N.Dak., and 28 grandchildren.

This is the memorial obituary that was
published in The Tribune, Bismarck, N.D. August 5, 1989. Mary Ann Mehrer
Turtle Lake -- Mary Ann Mehrer, 92, Sultan, Wash., died July 31, 1989,
at Sultan. Services were held Thursday at Startup Baptist Church,
Startup, Wash., with the Rev. William Neuman officiating. Burial was in
Sultan Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at
Turtle Lake Baptist Church. Mary Ann Klain was born Oct. 25, 1896, in
Romania. She married Gottlib Mehrer, Nov. 29, 1914, at Turtle Lake. They
farmed in the Turtle Lake area until 1946, when they moved to Washinton.
Mr. Mehrer died in 1963. She is survived by eight daughters, Emma
McGuire, Edna Erdmann and Ellen Jonker, all of Sultan, Violet Lentz,
Everett, Wash., Helen Hintz, Portland, Ore., Lillian Bair, Lexington,
Ind., Anna Jolly, Mesa, Ariz., and Martha Tweeten, Washburn, N.D., one
son, Leon Mehrer, Sawyer, N.D., two sisters, Rose Sellon, Turtle Lake,
N.D., and Helen Johner, Bismarck, N.D., one brother, Emil, Hillsboro,
Ore.; 27 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; and two great great
grandchildren.
