Family War
List
This is just a list of
the people I know to have served in the military. I am sure other names from my
family tree belong on this list. I just have not found proof of it yet.
American
Revolution
Reynolds, Joseph
He was a private in New York. He is listed with the DAR.
War of 1812
Ferguson, Kinder
He served in George Smith's Kentucky Militia 8th Regiment (Shelby County).
He applied for a pension when he lived in Scott County, Indiana. He is
listed in the "Index to War of 1812 Pension Files Vol. I:
A-I". His pension number is SC-6132. It states that he married Mary
Robbins 1 June 1792 in Franklin County, Virginia, sd 11 August 1879
Holman Station, Indiana, served George Smith's Co KY Mil, lived in Scott
County, Indiana.
Civil War
McCutchen, William
He was in the Indiana 66th Regiment Company K (Scott
County, Indiana). He was the company wagoner. His rank induction was as a wagoner
and he was discharged as a private. He served from
August 19, 1863 to 1865. He was injured in the Battle of Richmond (Kentucky) August 30, 1863
just a couple of weeks after enlisting. This injury was not sufficient
enough to keep him out of the war. I have copies of actual documents to
verify this.
