Christian – His
will is in book A page 415 in Jefferson County, Indiana. It was
written 22 March 1868 and received 1 April 1868. It reads:
Know all men by these presents that I Christian Bear,
being of lawful age and in my proper mind hereby make order and
constitute this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former
wills and testaments - First - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife
Nancy Bear all my real and personal Estate so long as she shall live
or so long as she remains my widow - she to pay all my just debts and
taxes from the provides of my personal property - and at her death or
marriage. I wish my Real Estate and personal property to be sold and
the provides equally divided between my children - I hereby appoint
Franklin Joyce my Executor to carry into affect this my last will and
testament. - In witness where of I here with set my hand and seal this
22nd day of March A. D. 1868 - witnessed by Mordicai Brooks, James

– His will is dated 15 May 1876 in Jefferson County, Indiana and
received 29 Mar 1876. It is in book B; page 257. It reads:
Know all now by these presents that I John Logan in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy six make this
my last will and testament. In the first place it is my will that all
my just debt and funeral expenses be paid and then I will and bequeath
my farm which I now live on in Jefferson County Indiana which is
bounded as follows to wit said farm contains one hundred and sixty
acres being the south east gr section 8 town 2 range 9. To my wife
Mary A Logan and my three children Mary Elizabeth, Percilla Adaline
and Maude Luella to be divided as follows to wit. One third of said
160 acres on the north side receiving East and West I will and
bequeath to Mary Elizabeth and her bodily heirs and I will one third
of said 160 acres to my daughter Percilla Adaline and her bodily heirs
and to be divide or lying along the south side receiving East and West
and the remaining one third the middle part of said 160 acres I will
and bequeath to my wife Mary Ann Logan to have and to hold during her
natural life and now it is my will that my daughter Maude Luella it to
have it for her share and here to go to her bodily heirs and I make
this my will in regard to my personal property. It is my wish and is
and will that my daughter Mauda Luella Logan after the payment as
afore said of my just debt and funeral expenses have what is remaining
said Maude Luella is to have to raise her on with the exception of a
note of haut on John Reed Colling for the sum of one hundred and sixty
four dollars and eighty cents which I will to my wife Mary A Logan.

– His will is in book C page 38 in Jefferson County, Indiana. It was
written 3 May 1827 which is two days before he died. A nuncupative
will received 11 May 1827. It states in part wife Mary, children not
named in will. They were Elizabeth 15, William 12, Mary 7, Henry 5,
David W. 2, and Jane 3 months.

– "I, Dennis Bice of County of Henry, State of
Kentucky, advanced age in life", left estate to Lydia Carnine;
the heirs of Cornelius Bice, deceased; John Bice; Catherine Davis;
Tiney Vanhise (Vannuys), each one share. His wearing apparel he left
exclusively to his son, John Bice. His "Furniture & household
stuff" was to be offered for sale if a satisfactory division
could not be agreed upon by his heirs. Witnesses were Tunis Vannuys
and George List. Will dated 14
Nov 1830 and proved Sep 1835 and can be found in Henry County Wills
book 6, page 56. This was taken from a file at the Madison Jefferson
County Public Library.

George – His
will was probated 24 Mar 1789. He named 10 children in his will. It is
unclear if he had two wives. The first wife may have had the last name
Sanders. She may be the mother of the three oldest children listed.
His second wife was Ann Osborn. She listed seven children (legatees)
in her will.
His will reads as follows. In the name of god, amen. I George
Monroe of the county of Rutherford and state of North Carolina being
well stricken in years, weak in body but of sound memory calling to
mind the mortality of man do this twenty fourth day of August and in
the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four make
and publish this My Last Will and Testament in manner following that
is as to say, first I give unto my beloved wife Anne Monroe all my
estate which I am profest during her natural life or widowhood but if
she should marry my will is she shall be allowed one third part only
and the other two thirds parts to be sold of my moveable estate is to
be sold negros only except and them to be hired out annually to honest
men so as they may not be abused and after her decease the whole of my
estate to be sold at public sale for money and twelve months of credit
given longer sufficient bond security. My will also is that all my
just debts be first paid and five pounds I give to my daughter
Margaret Monroe and all the remainder of the ..... of my estate be
equally divided among my other children. William Monroe, Stella Connet
(Isbella Barnet), Jennet Jones, Arter Monroe, Ann William (Willson),
Phillip Monroe, Orsham (Osborn) Monroe, Mary Monroe, John Monroe and I
make and ordain my beloved wife Ann Monroe Executor of my estate.
William Grant, Thomas Whiteside and William Monroe executors of this
my last will and testament in trust for the instant and purposes in
this my will confirmed in witness of where of said George Monroe have
to this my last will and testament let my hand end the day and year
above written. Signed sealed and delivered by the said George Monroe
as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who were
present at the signing and sealing thereof.
An addition to the will is as follows. March 24, 1789 I
find it necessary to affix the following appendix to the within will.
I do give and bequest unto my daughter Mary Monroe on cow, one heffer
two years old and one heffer one year old. I also bequest unto my
niece Anne Monroe, daughter of my son William Monroe one cow and calf
which she has in her possession. I also give to bequest unto my son
Arter Monroe all my apparel that I shall be prospect of at my decease
my hat excepted. My will is that the articles mentioned in the above
codicil be delivered to the legidees immediately after my decease. Testimony
where of I left my hand and seal the day and year first
above written testament of George Monroe.
