       1976 - 2002
The Redbacks were deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death of John O' Sullivan of the Leeside Lions and Ireland. John was much liked by everyone involved in Aussie Rules in Ireland and will be missed by all. Our condolences go to his family, friends and clubmates.

Ireland Capt. Michael Johnston
There were three Redbacks players on the Ireland team which won the inaugural Australian Football International Cup in Melbourne last month. Ireland were captained by Michael Johnston as they beat Papua New Guinea in the final, having won all their pool games earlier. Donal Boylan, Dualtach Johnston and Neil McFlynn also represented the team. A wonderful achievement for the lads for club and country. This maintained Ireland's unbeaten record having won the Northern Hemisphere Atlantic Alliance Cup in London last year.
