R.A. Coltrane
last game opponent is a no-show

This u16 team has earned my respect all season. If you played on this team, it wasn't to be a part of a "winning tradition" while breezing easily onto another victory as a member of the bench. Every one of the 22 games this team played was usually a serious ass kicking with us as the recipient. Every game was a battle. Most games we played with a shortage of players. Games we knew we would lose, we played a smothering defense and stayed within our point spread.  You guys are right where you should be. You are playing well, against good competition. There is a phrase Kevin uses, "If want to be a player, Be a player." Kind of zen-like perhaps, but what it means is, if you want to learn to be a soccer player or whatever it is you want to be, you will become it, by doing it.  I salute and respect the guys that came every week and played, because they love to play the game. I am proud to have been a part of it. Thanks for putting up with me. And, thanks much to Greg Pottorff for coaching this team for the second session. He did a great and mature job (when I stayed at my end of the bench and left him alone, he did better) Thanks Greg.
Thanks again to all the players that slugged it out all year. You guys kick some boo-tay.

R.A. Thelonious
robbed of championship game by Valladolid's no-show

A really high quality team.
You guys deserved a final game. It was a great session. Thanks for the thrills. I'll put a picture of your trophy up here. Thanks again to coaches Victor and Sarah and all the guys that joined the team this session, it was great to make new friends.

Sarah Leitelt & Victor Hermosillo
making it happen for R.A. Thelonious and Red Army Soccer

It's hard to believe. The season we started last November 2000 is almost over. With six teams, two sessions, eleven games per session, that is what, 132 games?  No wonder Kevin and I have no hair.
I really have to thank Sarah Leitelt for coaching the girls teams and for letting Victor think he is coaching the Thelonious team. Sarah coached and played on the Fire Ants, played on the Hurricanes team and coached the Thelonious team with Victor. Sarah gets my vote as the most essential person to Red Army Soccer for the 2000-2001 season. Sarah not only showed the younger girls how to play, but she has been a great example of how to be competitive, feminine, how to have fun, and how to torment all the younger boys. Besides, nobody drives faster to and from the dome than Sarah. She and Kevin Higgins might hold the lowest E.T. to the dome, somewhere around six minutes I believe. Anyway, Thanks Sarah. It has been a gas!! We all owe you a beer. Oops, sorry Paul.

Having Victor Hermosillo coach our u16 A team R.A. Thelonious was a great coup for our club. We are very grateful for having the chance to have a player of Victor's caliber coaching us. It has been a privilege to have you with us.

I have to thank all the players and their parents who have put up with all the confusion this winter. Saturday games, extra Thursday games, all kinds of rosters, too many people, not enough and on and on. There has been some awesome awesome soccer played. The players worked hard. Got beat up, and beat up a few. All in all, the experiment was successful. We'll be here next winter for sure.

That's all for now. Thanks everybody.

Tim

More kudos to come.
