Hell Beast...
While I kinda wanted to keep my number of bots at 2, alot of the local competitions I go to are for ants(1lb) and beetles(3lb) only, having only 1 bot for a 2 man team is'nt very fun for the guy not driving so this will be my bot to drive at any small bot class(Death Edge is Will's). So here is my new ant Hell Beast:
Like most the bots I make, this one started out as a pencil sketch. Having not built a "cool" artsy sort of bot since beelzebub I wanted to make just that, an artsy cool bot. So what I came up with is a design to take advantage of the pushout-drop zones in most ant arena's. The jaw can close and bit opponents and drag them where I want them to go, but if they are too slippery or big, the tail can lift and flip them.
Agh scary!
Rather then taking the drawing and turning it into a cad file, I went staright to building, starting with the head on the left is the upper jaw and on the right is the lower jaw. Along with the front wheels, they will both hinge on a common shaft, that allows the lower jaw to stay in constant contact with the floor which makes getting under bots to bite them much easier. A ball and socket joint attached to the upper jaw which is connected to servo will do the opening and closing of the mouth.
look at those teeth
growl
This is what the two mouth pieces look like together, very frightening....
From here...
-Buy all parts for drive and weapon.
-Make body.
-Make tail.
-Work on servo linkage geometry.
