I want to share my name with you and true meaning behind the name; RED is the color which represents the color of the First Nations race. But most and formost Red is the color of Woman. Turtle represents "Nookomis" grandmother our mother the earth. She is my warrior spirit and it is important to acknowledge her everyday as without her we would not be here. Woman represents the traditional woman in myself and the sacredness I carry which is the gift of life as a mother and as a grandmother and as a great grandmother. I am deeply honored to walk as woman with "Nookomis" in this physical world and eventually in the spirit world.

My teachings come from my late father his birth name is "Henry Shingoose" and his spirit name is "Keewatin". Our family comes from the Bear Clan. The bear spirit is very important to our family as it brings medicine to the people. When we are down we call on the Bear spirit to help us and he will walk with us through our hard times either physically, mentally. emotionally or spiritually. The bear is one of the many spirit helpers aside from the Eagle, Beaver. Buffalo, Beaver, Turtle, and Sabe. It has been my fathers wish while living and while he is in the spirit world is to share the teachings with the people from the spirit aand heart. The teachings he was given were passed down through generations from my great great grandfathers and great great grandmothers. As it was in the beginnings our ancestors shared their knowledge with their children aand grandchildren. The teachings are sacred and must be acknowledged as such.
