Facial Hair I dont know about you but what is it with "facial hair"???? I am a female it is NOT meant to be there. I have to pluck my eyebrows, something I loathe and remove the shadow on my top lip (with this stuff that has the capacity to burn skin let alone hair), something that is embarrassing if not kept in check!! Or I could just leave it and join the circus in the "Bearded Lady" section. Totally unfair.... Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Well I am off to pluck my eyebrows and then shave my legs, may as well attack the bikini line.....where does it end? |

The Sound of One Hand Clapping by Richard Flanagan I recently read this book and it is fabulous. I would have to say that this is one of the most hauntingly sad books I have ever read but one that leaves a lasting effect on you by openning your awareness to a hidden history that I never knew existed. It is based in Tasmania (my home) and tells the story of a construction camp and how our damns were helped to be built by immigrants in the 50's and 60's. The story is based around Sonja Buloh, her alcoholic, abusive father and how her mother walked into a blizzard when Sonja was three and never returned. Thirty-five years later Sonja returns to face many ghosts. "A must read" :-) |

| Dont we Aussies just say the wierdest things? I heard a joke the other day that meantioned the fact that aussies love to call things the opposite or what they are and it is true!! Lets start with this one - A redhead (being one myself) - in Australia a person with redhair is called blue, make sense huh? Not to be confused with a bluey which is a blue woolen coat. If someone does something really quiet dumb we go "Well you'd be a clever bastard", hehe...OH yeah sarcasm runs riot...gotta love it!! Bugger - This word is great!! It is so versitile, for instance if you are at work and your puter breaks down this is what you could say........ "Oh bugger, me bugger of a computer has buggered up. I wish I could toss the bugger of a thing out the window but I suppose I had better get the bugger fixed". More to come :-) |
