Saiyuki Gaiden: Main Characters
Konzen Doji.
Konzen Doji is Kanzeon Bosatsu's 'favorite' nephew and secretary. He is, like his future form (Genjo Sanzo) anti-social, impatient, and never smiles. He hates tenkai and its running because he, like his aunt and most gods, thinks that the place was ordinary, unchanging and extremely boring. He was entrusted with Goku who complimented him as being "as bright as the sun". He was also the one who named Goku. Goku's nature made Konzen slowly warm up to the others.
Tenpo Gensui.
"Ten-chan" as Goku calls him. Tenpo is as friendly, caring and always smiling as his reincarnation (Cho Hakkai). Known in heaven as the best tactician there is. Tenpo works for the West Heaven army, under Kenren Taisho. Tenpo knows a lot about the upper levels in the army and their plans, but he cunningly hides his reputation by working under somebody who has a lower rank than himself. According to Kenren, "He may not look like it, but he's more emotional than I am... it means, he's more likely to snap.". When Kenren Taisho was dismissed, he negotiated directly, with a sharp tongue and his frank side.
Kenren Taisho
Kenren Taisho is as carefree as his re-embodiment (Sha Gojyo). His rogue nature caused many gods to dislike him intensely. He works not under Nataku Taishi's force, but pities the fighting god. Protective of his friends, Goku calls him "Ken nii-chan" (big brother Ken). He is Tenpo Gensui's confidant and 'boss', even though his rank is lower than Tenpo's. He knows Tenpo enough, and only due to Tenpo's negotiations that he manages to stay at the army.
Son Goku
The Son Goku 500 years ago is a child. Innocent, and mischievous, he likes Tenpo Gensui, Kenren Taisho and is extremely protective of Konzen. He is also Nataku's best friend, but was forcibly being separated from Nataku. A heretic child born from a rock and was brought to Tenkai to be kept an eye on, Goku was entrusted to Konzen Doji, whom had Goku changed because of his carefree, innocent and friendly nature.
