You sit down again, watching Sun and Flicker. Flicker chirps and lands in your lap, expecting to be stroked. You do so and let out a relaxed sigh as the griffion starts the story.
"Brierfox had been filling out forms at Shadow Rose's castle when she heard a loud ruckus coming from the abandoned dragon chamber. So, she went to investigate. Brierfox walked in and to her horror saw many abandoned dragons, eggs, hatchlings, and adults. For some, this was their second time of being abandoned, and if abandoned again, they would choose to die rather then keep living. Brierfox stroked and cuddled with the hatchlings, some cried, some just stared off into space. None of them would speak with her. Heavy hearted, Brierfox looked at the two red adult dragons. The fire dragon snapped and snarled at the fox/human as she approached. Brierfox sighed, and was about to leave, when she saw the other red adult, sitting in the corner, ignoring all who tried to get near her. As Brierfox drew closer, she saw that the dragon was a Fire Opal. The dragoness' red scales were tinged gray, her eyes stared off into space. Her wings drooped to her sides, but she did not utter a sound. Brierfox took another step towards the Fire Opal. The dragon turned and Brierfox saw a red tear streak down the dragon's cheek. How could he leave me? I thought my bondmate loved me. No, he DOES love me, its a mistake thats all, he is just stuck in a crowd somewhere and will be coming back to get me any minute now, I'm not like the others." The dragon said, trying to convince herself that she really was not abandoned. "WHY!!! WHY did he LEAVE me? Fox person, am I really such a horrible dragon that he would leave me to die?" The dragon howled, turning to Brierfox. Brierfox hugged the poor dragon around the neck. "Nothing is wrong with you, something was wrong with your bondmate, to make him leave you. He must have been nuts to abandon such a wonderful beautiful dragon as you." Whispered Brierfox, suddenly wondering what kind of monsters would leave any of these dragons. The dragon was silent for a moment, then looked up at Brierfox. "My name is Morgaine, and I hate it here. They take good care of us, but its not like having a bondmate. I'm, afraid that my next bondmate will leave too, and I'm not normally afraid of ANYTHING!" Morgaine said sadly. Brierfox looked up at the Fire Opal. "I'll try to adopt you Morgaine, if you would let me. I SWEAR to NEVER abandon you again if I am allowed to." Brierfox said, stroking Morgaine. "You can live with me and my dragons in Drac. There are lots of other dragons there that maybe you could get to know." Morgaine thought for a moment, he eyes staring back into space. "If you want to try, I would go to this, Drac place with you. I am not usually so, whiny, but I just don't understand why he... Left" Morgaine sighed and turned back to the corner. "I swear that I will visit you everyday until you are adopted by me or someone else and if they too leave you, I'll, I'll do something. Morgaine, I"m going to try and get you out of here. No matter what it takes." With that, Brierfox stroked the Fire Opal one more time, then headed into the next room to fill out the application. Morgaine looked after the fox/human for a long time, then turned back to face the wall."
