Our Lifestyle

We are committed to living and farming in the most Earth-friendly and sustainable manner that we possibly can. Our mountain farm is home to stunning native woodlands and natural waterways that we are fortunate to be able to help preserve and protect. Wildlife is abundant - deer, foxes, turkeys, raptors, bluebirds, and a myriad variety of butterflies are among the denizens of the space we share on this lovely bit of land.

We never use chemical weedkillers, pesticides, or synthetic hormones on our farm; likewize, dewormer and antibiotic usage is strictly limited to "as required."

We are also committed to minimizing our use of fossil fuels. One of the best ways to do this is to use and consume LOCAL products as much as we possibly can! We practice Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and we use as little petroleum fuel products as possible. We plan town trips carefully so as to make the most stops possible at one time - saving time, expense, and of course, fuel. As much as possible, we utilize public transportation when needed for trips out of the area. We do not own a tractor, gas-engine mower, or 4-wheeler, as we believe old-fashioned HORSE power can do the same job so much more efficiently - without causing pollution, destruction, or waste. Our sheep and our Welsh Cobs harvest most of their feed on their own, and spread fertilizer without requiring the use of fossil fuels!

Sustainable farming is a romantic way of life... a way to stay in touch with community, family, and nature. It is not an easy life, but it is one that allows - in fact requires - a life filled with family, friends, and love!
