It's again time for the Annual Soldiers Dinner. This function is definitely a highlight of the year. With the help of the Vail Veterans Foundation we host a dinner at the firehouse. The Africa trip has been postponed due to political strife in Kenya. News of when it may be back on can be found here as soon as it is confirmed.

Vail Fire Department members Ryan Sutter, Mike Orin, and Bryan Cash are currently raising funds for a humanitarian effort to Africa. This trip will involve teaching fire safety in regards to open fire cooking and wildland concerns, CPR, and basic first aid. These members will be accompanying the non-profit organization YouthLINC out of Utah. In addition to helping the Meru community in Kenya, this trip is designed to shape youth to become life long humanitarians, clean up Mt. Kilimanjaro, and plant trees to offset the effect their plane flight has on the earth. For more information on this effort, and how to donate, check out the link to the website in our links section.

Vail Fire and Emergency Services is currently going through some big changes. We would like to congratulate the following people for their recent promotions:

In addition, Chief Mark Miller of Hartford, Vermont is Vail Fire's new Fire Chief. We are all very excited about Chief Miller joining the department in January. For the time being, Police Chief Dwight Henninger will continue to be the Acting Fire Chief. A big thanks goes out to Chief Henninger and all of the folks that helped out with the recent testing processes. With out your help it may not have been as successful as it was.
