Our Mission Statement:
We will use the recorder as a means of encouraging people to play music. We will provide opportunities for performance and ensemble playing in a friendly environment free of the pressure often associated with serious classical study. |

The Non Professional Recorder Society of Canada is committed to helping people enjoy playing music. Music is an important means of self-expression which can improve a person's abilities in all aspects of their life, at any age.
The recorder is the ideal instrument for acheiving this goal of spreading a love of music because: - it is relatively simple - it is surprisingly rewarding - it is inexpensive and readily available - it is portable: take it anywhere and play it anytime - it reminds many people of playing it in elementary school...
Did you play the recorder in grade three? That childlike love of music somehow disappears for some of us as we try to learn it, and suddenly it is only fun if we are good at it. Playing the recorder seems to bring back that simple joy in music. |

The Non Professional Recorder Society of Canada also believes that playing music with others is important. An important part of our mission is to provide recorder players with the opportunity to connect with other recorder players in their area.
The experience of playing music with others is a completely different experience from playing alone. To "play off" your duet partner, to experience each other's energy and to create something together which is greater than the sum of its parts, this is a large part of the musical experience.
We want to help you experience music. |
