Tennis Tournament Rules 2006

Singles

1.  The singles tennis tournament will be a single elimination tournament.

2.  The losers in the first round of the tournament will be placed into a separate consolation tournament.  This is not the loser’s bracket of a double elimination tournament; it is a completely separate tournament for the losers of the first round.

3.  All ENC students, faculty, and staff are allowed to participate.  Girls are allowed to participate, but there will not be a separate tournament for them.

4.  There will be approximate times set up for each match.  If any player is more than 10 minutes late for his/her match, he/she will have to forfeit that match.

5.  Times of matches are subject to change based on weather, matches going long, or matches finishing early.  We will do our best to notify you of any changes.  Also, if there is not enough time to finish everything on Saturday, October 14th, matches will spill into Sunday and possibly the following week.

6.  Regular scoring for tennis applies except there will be no deuces.  If a game goes to 40-40 (deuce), the player who is receiving will pick which side they want to receive, and the winner of the next point will win the game.

7.  Each match will be a pro-set, which means the first person to win 8 games wins the match.  If the set is tied 8-8, there will be a tiebreaker game.

8.  Each player will be responsible for calling shots out of bounds on their own side.  Please be honest.

9.  The player who is serving will be responsible for keeping the score for that game.

10.  Sign up by Thursday, October 12th at 3 PM, turn in your insurance information, pay $3 per singles entry, and come out and have fun!  Winners and runner-ups get trophies.

Doubles

1.  The doubles tennis tournament will be either a single or double elimination tournament based on number of participants and available time/courts.

2.  There will be maximum of one former/current varsity player per doubles team.  This includes both guys and girls.

3.  Rules 3-9 from the Singles Rules apply for doubles matches as well.

4.  The two players on a doubles team must take turns serving just as in a regular doubles tennis match.  No player can serve two games in a row for his/her team.

5.  Sign up by Thursday, October, 12th at 3 PM, turn in your insurance information, pay $4 per doubles team, and come out and have fun!  Winners and runner-ups get trophies.
