balanced Diet


What is a balanced Diet ..?


Actually our body needs a certain amount of calories on daily basis and if our intake is less than required then the body will be malnourished and if our intake is  more than what we need as daily requirement then that portion is stored in a body in the form of fat and body is slowly become fat and over weight.


We need to know the amount or portion of food our body need to keep us fit and healthy.


One  portion  Milk /Milk product (cheeses etc)


one portion  meat or meat product


one portion vegetable


one portion fruit


One portion Grain family which includes,  pasta, wheat, gram , flour, rice


plenty of water


There should be three meals a day and Breakfast is must


Why Milk is must at least a day


 Milk or dairy products are main source of calcium which is essential for healthy bones and teeth.  A portion of milk should be a cup/glass a day. Skimmed milk is recommended 300ml a day (the amount includes we use in tea, coffee)


Meat and Its product


Meat is a source of protein. Proteins are building blocks of body muscles, tissues and cells. There are daily new cells are form and replace the old ones. So daily portion of protein is needed for body .Most of the enzymes are protein in nature.


Grains/rice


The grains and rice are the main source of carbohydrates . Carbohydrates provide instant energy requirement of body. The simple form of carbohydrate is Glucose


Vegetables/fruits 


The vegetable and fruits are source of fibres ,mineral and vitamins. Boiled/raw vegetable is better then fried ones. Eat five a day


Oil/ Fats 


The fats and oil are high energy yielding molecules. Excess fat store in body and cause problems like cholesterol. The simple form is lipids.


Water 


Water is a liquid which dissolve food and carry it to the cells and tissues. It keeps the body environment wet and also regulate the body functions. At least 8 glasses are recommended
