These remind me of timbits / donut holes! They have a moist, chewy center with a crisp, sugar-coated outside.
Blend in a blender or food processor until smooth: 1/2 lb tofu (soft or firm; soft is preferrable)
1/2 cup oil
Pour into a medium mixing bowl. Add: 1.5 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 Tbsp vanilla (optional)
1 Tbsp water
Stir well. Mix separately: 2 cups white flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Add to wet ingredients. Mix well. The dough should be fairly stiff. Roll into 1 1/2" balls. In a plate put: 1/4 cup sugar
Roll the formed balls in the sugar until they are coated. Place on a lightly oiled cookie sheet 1" apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 350Ff. Cool on a wire rack.
