| Submitted by: Barb Upmeyer December 2002 Ingredients: 3 egg whites* 1 pinch of salt 9 ounces (4 � cups ) powdered sugar 1 � tablespoons cinnamon 1 � teaspoon lemon juice 12 ounces (3/4 pound) finely ground almonds Beat egg whites with pinch of salt until stiff. Add the powdered sugar and mix well (set aside � cup of this mixture for the frosting). Add the cinnamon, lemon juice and ground almonds. Roll out dough 1/3 inch thick. Use more powdered sugar (not flour) if sticky. Cut out stars and place on parchment paper. Let them dry out 6 hours or overnight. Carefully frost with the frosting that was set aside earlier. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 250 degrees (low heat). *only use two egg whites if the eggs are large |
