Ingredients:
2 C soft butter (part shortening is OK)
3 C sugar
4 eggs

5 1/2 C sifted flour (measure after sifting)
4 t cream of tartar
2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt (optional)

Directions:
Mix butter, sugar and eggs until well blended.  Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.  Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture.

Roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter, and then roll in cinnamon/sugar (3 T sugar and 2 T cinnamon)

Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 8-10 minutes at 350.

The cookie dough freezes well after rolling in cinnamon/sugar, and they don't stick together.
