| Hickory Nut Cookies 1 cup butter 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 cup chopped hickory nuts 1 / 2 teaspoon salt 1 / 2 teaspoon soda 1 / 2 cup light brown sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups sifted flour 1 beaten egg 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar Cream sugar and butter. Add vanilla and beaten egg. Beat well. Add salt, soda, and cream of tartar. Beat well. Add flour and mix well. Add nut meats. Mix well. Spoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes. Cookies are done when edges show a hint of gold. Remove from cookie sheet. Makes 4 dozen. |
