1 / 4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup cake flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 / 2 cup pecans, chopped
Blend butter, sugar and egg and beat well. Add vanilla and the dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Mix well and add the pecans. Spread in an 8 x 8-inch pan which has been buttered and lined on the bottom with waxed paper. Bake in a moderate oven, 350 degrees until firm and light brown and the cookies have pulled away slightly from the sides of the pan. Let cool for 5 minutes and cut into bars.
