    THANK GOD FOR DIRTY DISHES
Thank God for dirty dishes,
They have a tail to tell.
While others are going hungry,
We're eating very well.
With home and health and happiness,
I shouldn't want to fuss.
For by this stack of evidence,
God's very good to us.
As almost everyone knows, south Alabama was hit by Hurricane Ivan on Sept. 15, 2004. Our little town was almost unrecognizable. I wrote this poem about that dreadful night, and I hope you enjoy reading it. If I can get pictures I will put them on the site.
                                  HURRICANE IVAN
As everyone is getting ready, everyone is a little scared.
For Hurricane Ivan is about to be, hitting our town a cateragory 3.
People are rushing here and there, as they wait till the last minute in despair.
Shelters open and hearts pound,  as people start to hear the sound.
Some have waited till the very last, and then they try to find shelter fast.
People set by the radio and t.v. , to see when Ivan here will be.
At the church where we stayed, people came and rest and layed.
Everyone was worried but no prayers was heard, as the storm came in and messed up "our world".
Only 2 people went in to the alter to pray, one was me the other was my hubby.
Oh God help us there went another tree, please help everyone here, there is 33.
Everyone will be glad when Ivan is gone, as they start to wonder, gripe, and moan.
Oh God there is 15 kids, and their parents have nearly "flipped their lids".
We sat and wait with no lights, just a little food, it is a long night.
It's finally morning, the storm has passed. People are in shock at the sights they see, and wonder what's in store for their family.
Trees are thru houses, cars, and gates. This used to be a beautiful state.
Look over there that used to be a store, but right now it doesn't look like it anymore.
Trees came falling and flying by the roots, it's not safe out there now even in rain boots.
Oh no Lord help our friends. Two trees came thru their home. They have 5 children and now it is gone.
A day passes and we have to move on, as everyone goes to check on their home.
It got our fence, dog house, and antenna. 7 trees are down, but we still have our life. Thank you Dear God for not letting Ivan kill us last night.
We haven't heard from a guy at our church, him and his family went to another place. We long to hear from them, as we sit and wait.
Days go by and life goes on. Thank you God for helping us bare, the storm and tornados that went on down here.
We heard from the guy at our church, he or his family wasn't hurt. His house is gone to, but still he will be, a part of our church family.
Days go on and still no lights, they brought in the ice and water trucks to help us make it thru the days and nights.
The food trucks came with army meals. The grocery store was nearly out, so we got some as we went about.
Hey army food ain't bad at all, when thats all you can get. Thank God once again all our needs was met.
Weeks go by and there is still so much debris. People are still loosing their lives from falling trees.
I sit back and wonder and wait. If that would have been Jesus coming back, would we wait to get ready to late.
Would we already be prepared as we wait for him, would we give up all of our sins?
Would we just get halfway ready as we did the night Ivan came thru, or would we be ready, watching and waiting on him too?
God is so good to us, he spared us again, will you sit back and wait to late to praise him?
If I had one prayer it would be, everyone including all of my friends and family.
Be prepared one day Jesus will come, and take us to Heaven, for it will be our new home.
Don't wait too late you know wrong from right. He will come back in the twinkling of an eye.
I love everyone and I hope this poem will make you see, God wants me and you to be part of his great big family.
