1. Do you have a piece of *plastic* ware in your kitchen that has picked up a strong odor? Depending on the size of the piece, put 1/4 to 1/2 cup vinegar in the container, fill with water and let sit for 2 hours. Repeat if neccesary. (Usually works the first time though.)
2. Broken glass? Discard the larger pieces. Then dampen at least a double thickness of paper towels and wipe up the shreds. Do Not sweep broken glass with a broom, as glass can be caught up in the broom brisles.
3. Have you gotten your soup or gravy to salty? Drop in a piece of raw potato, cook for a few minutes, remove potato and discard. Better yet, don't salt when cooking, let every one salt their own food.
4. When cooking Macaroni and Cheese (box mix), use water instead of milk. Same taste, less fat and calories.
5. Never store Potatoes and Onions together. It will cause you potatoes to spoil rapidly.
6. Always store your fresh Tomatoes at room temperture. They will stay fresher, longer. (Storeing them in the refrigerator will make them mushy.)
7. Do not store Fruits and Vegtables in the same bin in your refrigerator. They will spoil very quickly if stored together.
8. Want to keep your drains clean? Once a month, pour in 1 cup of baking soda, and then 1 cup of vinegar. When it foams pour in 1 quart of boiling water.
9. When dusting, always give your dust rag or feather duster a quick spray with a magnetic duster. It will help to keep the dust from flying through the air.
10. When dusting, start at the TOP of your room and work your way to the lower parts. That way your dust doesn't land on places you have already dusted.
11. Spray your Tupperware or plasticware with nonstick cooking spray before pouring in tomato-based sauces, no more stains.
12. To prevent egg shells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before hard-boiling.
13. Use a meat baster to *squeeze* your pancake batter onto the hot griddle, perfect shaped pancakes every time.
14. Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator, it will keep for weeks.
15. To determine whether an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it is fresh, if it rises to the surface, throw it away.
16. To keep your rubber bath mat from getting mildew, after your shower or bath, stand it up and coil the ends towards the center. If it will not stay coiled, put a clothespin on it to hold in place.
17. To seperate 2 glasses that are stuck together. Set the bottom glass in warm water and pour cold water in the top glass. They will come apart easily without breaking.
18. When making hambuger steaks or large hamburgers, after forming the meat, poke a hole in the center of the patty with your finger before putting in the pan to cook. This will allow your burgers to cook evenly, from the inside as well as from the outside. Your burgers will be cooked completely.
19. Line your shelves with heavy freezer wrap, instead of shelf paper, with the waxed side up. It can be wiped off with a damp cloth when cleaning cupboards and does not have to be replaced as often.
20. To bring a vase of wilted flowers (not dead 1's, lol) back to life, add a teaspoon of mild detergent to the water.
21. Unripened tomatoes will ripen faster if placed with some fresh fruit. Remove them as soon as they ripen, or they will spoil very fast.
